Amy Jenkinson, Accountant I am a native of South Carolina. I grew up in Greenville and came to Charleston in 1985 to attend the College of Charleston and I have never looked back. At college I discovered that I had a real knack for numbers, but I just couldn't bring myself to go into accounting. To me an accountant was a stuffy buttoned up woman in a navy blue suit. Instead, I began my career as a banker (no stuffy old suits there). I worked in banking for four years as a banking center manager and lender. Desperate for a change, I quit my job and began taking some advanced accounting classes. In the meantime, a temp job led me to a controller position with a construction company at Kiawah Island. I have been in construction for 12 years now and I have loved every minute of it. My time at Kiawah gave me experience on a wide variety of projects from custom homes to land development projects.
